The Ontario ParaSport Games is a program of the Government of Ontario, delivered by host municipalities in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport and ParaSport Ontario. The Games promote public awareness of the para-sports and showcase Ontario’s best athletes. The Games provide host communities with an opportunity to make their community barrier-free and leave a legacy for persons with a disability in their community. The games are supported by the Government of Ontario, ParaSport Ontario and the Games Organizing Committee proudly made up of members of the host community. The Games will also be supported by hundreds of local volunteers and spectators who are all focused on making a lasting and favourable impression.
Q - Are these games related to the Paralympic Games ?
A – These games consist of some of the best athletes in the Province of Ontario. Though these games are not in any way associated with the Paralympic Games, athletes competing in the Ontario Parasport Winter Games may well have competed in previous Paralympic Games as members of the Canadian National Team. At the provincial level this is an elite athletic competition often regarded as both a gauge and tune-up event in the lead up to the Paralympic Games.
